We believe that we are called to cover people in the areas of :
Salvation, Restoration, Direction, and Commission.
On January 8, 1993 Freddie Cancio received the call to the pastorate and was told to begin a church. While in prayer for the purpose of this church, God revealed a spiritual vision. The image portrayed a large tent being raised up in the desert with an intense light shining from within where the praises of God were being lifted up. From out of the darkness people began to walk toward the tent. They appeared lost and destitute and were drawn by the light and warmth emanating from within. The tent provided a shelter or a "Covering" from the cold and darkness of the night.
The Word states that "God does not dwell in temples made with hands" (Acts 7:48), but has chosen to dwell within people. We believe the people of The Covering Church are being raised up as a tent to cover those in need of God's liberty (Isaiah 4:5-6). To carry this vision to fruition we believe for the following:
To establish a church that provides regular service for celebration through praise and worship, teaching of God's Word, and ministry of the Holy Spirit.
To create and build ministries and fellowships that will bring God's people to wholeness of life - heart, mind, soul, and strength (Mark 12:30).
To create and build evangelistic ministries that specialize in unique approaches to evangelism such as drama, music, dance, and other arts, and teams for prison ministries, senior citizen ministries, and homeless ministries.
To create and build ministries that meet the growing demands of our world, such as a counseling center, support groups of all types, recovery centers of all types, and a retreat center.
To establish a Christian daycare and school (K-12) where children can receive a healthy education that implements Christ-like principles.
To create and build television and audio ministries that will declare God's Word of freedom.
This is only a glimpse of what we believe The Covering Church will fulfill. We rely on the leading of the Holy Spirit as He directs us daily and understand that all things will be done in God's timing. The Covering Church will be a safe place for the fatherless, a place of healing for those who are broken in the mind, body, and soul, a place for people to be equipped for ministry, and a place where people will be covered in the fullness of God's grace.
